NOOR'S NEW PRIDE
A Refugee's Interactive Guide to Coping with Trauma
Available in English and Arabic. Hebrew and Spanish in the works.
Written specifically for refugee children but relevant to anyone suffering from post-trauma, Noor's New Pride tells the story of a lion cub who loses her family and Savannah home when she and her brother are forced to escape hunters and find refuge on a Lion Safety Reserve. With the help of newfound friends, Noor, her brother, and the reader embark on a journey of learning to overcome the stress experienced after trauma. In the process, Noor begins investing more and more in her new life, until she is finally able to relinquish her desire to return to the past and pursue a future filled with dignity and love in a new home. Her new friends are her new pride.
ABOUT ME
At 17 years old, Ella Keinan has been engaged in relief work in the Middle East and Africa since she was a child. With the onset of the current refugee crisis in Syria, Ella joined IsraAID, an NGO that provides psychosocial services to refugee communities. She also founded Riverdale For Refugees, a school-based organization engaged in fundraising and awareness initiatives on behalf of refugees. Through her work, Ella became aware of the high incidence of post-traumatic stress disorder among refugees, particularly in children. Noor's New Pride is Ella's effort to provide a tool for refugee children to cope with trauma.
